Polk County Public Schools (PCPS) supports students across more than 50 school sites in Bartow, Florida. As one of the largest and fastest-growing school districts in the nation, PCPS faced pressure to keep pace with rising evaluation demand and timeline requirements.
To strengthen assessment capacity and maintain timely student support, PCPS partnered with Presence to implement flexible teletherapy and remote assessments.
Services delivered
As one of the nation’s largest school districts, Polk County Public Schools faced mounting pressure to manage complex evaluation timelines across 50+ sites. Rising assessment volumes and an expanding multilingual student population placed high demands on the district’s dedicated team. PCPS needed a sustainable way to deliver timely support without increasing the burden on onsite staff.
PCPS partnered with Presence to launch a flexible multi-service support model. The partnership began with psychoeducational assessments, where both teams collaborated to refine workflows, strengthen implementation processes, and improve communication across school sites.
As operations became more streamlined, the district expanded services to include speech-language therapy, bilingual support, and additional operational resources.
What began with psychoeducational assessments evolved into a broader partnership that helped PCPS expand specialized services across more than 50 school sites. Increased assessment capacity also helped PCPS strengthen timeline management and expand access to bilingual and specialized services across the district.

THE ROAD TO SUCCESS
As Senior Director of Student Services and Section 504, Sherry Scott helped foster close collaboration between onsite teams and Presence providers. This partnership created a trusted extension of the school teams, where remote providers worked hand-in-hand with Polk County teams to deliver heartfelt, consistent care that puts students first.
LOOKING AHEAD
Moving forward, PCPS is expanding its partnership with Presence to meet the needs of a growing student population. Together, we’re constantly refining strategies to improve onboarding, scheduling, and communication.
