How virtual speech-language therapy keeps students on track

When the sudden departure of onsite SLPs created hard-to-fill vacancies in 2013, Lebanon Community School District (LCSD) turned to Presence. Since then, the partnership has expanded speech-language assessments and therapy with multiple remote SLPs who keep student services moving forward.

Challenges

Maintaining speech-language services after the sudden departure of an SLP

When multiple staffing transitions created unexpected service gaps, Lebanon Community School District needed a sustainable way to maintain high-quality services and avoid a backlog of missed sessions.

  • Recruiting licensed SLPs in a rural district
  • Maintaining timely evaluations and services
  • Absorbing caseloads when onsite providers depart

Solutions

Meeting student needs with flexible teletherapy support

Presence introduced a unique approach, dedicating two SLPs entirely to therapy while utilizing a third remote SLP specifically for speech evaluations. By expanding capacity through teletherapy and remote evaluations, onsite providers could spend more time focused on direct services and supporting student growth.

  • Expanded therapy coverage across seven schools
  • Added dedicated evaluation support to maintain timelines
  • Increased flexibility during provider changes

Key results

Helping students thrive through virtual speech-language services

Even as staffing needs changed, students continued receiving critical speech-language support. In close collaboration with Presence, LCSD maintained service delivery, completed timely evaluations, and helped ensure students could continue progressing toward their goals.
