Mobile County Public Schools (MCPSS) serves approximately 53,000 students across 90 schools. The district offers diverse learning pathways and is committed to providing high-quality education to students from all backgrounds and communities.
Rising evaluation demand and complexity, combined with limited staffing, led MCPSS to partner with Presence for flexible and timely evaluation support.
Services delivered
MCPSS saw steady growth in both the volume and complexity of psychoeducational evaluations and gifted testing. With staff already balancing multiple responsibilities, the rising demand created pressure on timelines and required providers to juggle competing priorities.
Presence’s licensed school psychologists supported the onsite team by providing remote assessments year-round. Presence providers completed over a hundred gifted tests during the summer months, and helped deliver the appropriate assessments for every eligible student. Flexible remote support, paired with technology designed for schools by Presence, helped MCPSS stay on top of timelines and address complex referrals.
By partnering with MCPSS, Presence helped increase coverage for both school-year and summer evaluations, lighten the load for the onsite team, and keep assessment timelines on track. Our providers supported gifted referrals, delivered comprehensive psychoeducational assessments, and gave MCPSS the space to focus more fully on student needs across their schools.

As Supervisor of Psychological Services, Nakia Brown was open to teletherapy and remote assessments as a strategic way to address rising evaluation demand and complexity. Presence partnered with her to bring in remote providers who could help meet the volume and wide range of assessment needs while remaining compliant.
