For the first time since its announcement of Results Driven Accountability (RDA), the U.S. Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) has rated states for compliance with IDEA and student achievement. Now, district leaders are asking a key question: “How does RDA affect me, my work, and my schools?” The answer? The focus is at the state level, but compliance with RDA requires district, school, and classroom perspective. Some states previously rated as meeting IDEA compliance requirements are now deemed by OSEP as needing assistance or intervention, designations that will require the states to take decisive actions to improve outcomes. This added emphasis on achievement will impact many districts as states rethink their strategies and their capacity for supporting local districts. Join a nationwide audience as we discuss OSEP’s RDA from a local district’s perspective, raise issues, and discuss the implications for school administrators.
