The Challenge
Operating strictly as a virtual school, California Pacific Charter Schools (CalPac) were faced with lower student participation in in-person assessments. They were seeing only an 85% student participation rate. As enrollment grew during the pandemic, and more special education students onboarded, providers needed help overcoming obstacles with time and caseload management and traveling challenges to administer assessments across southern California.
The Solution
As the pandemic altered the landscape of schools and teaching across the country, more parents were choosing non-traditional schools to meet the diverse learning needs of their children. CalPac was no exception to that growth. Seeing their own virtual student body grow–particularly the special education population–they turned to Presence for much-needed help creating the best possible virtual learning environment for their students and clinicians.
The Results
By implementing Presence’s online therapy platform, Kanga, CalPac witnessed immediate improvements in time and caseload management with their clinicians; increased involvement within the parent community; and most importantly, positive outcomes in student engagement. In fact, the charter school now boasts a 98% student participation rate in virtual assessments due to all the testing barriers that Kanga helped them to remove.
