Across the country school is in full swing, along with a fresh wave of concern for the COVID-19 Delta variant. At the same time, another concern is plaguing educators: a growing mental health crisis among young people.
“Students can’t learn unless their minds are ready for it,” said Dr. Dana Godek, manager of policy and research at the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). “You can’t just dump knowledge into them and hope for the best.”It’s time to make a shift to meet the needs—the real and urgent needs—of students.
