NEW YORK, N.Y. (August 27, 2025)–Presence, a pioneer and leader in remote special education-related and mental health services, is thrilled to announce its exclusive partnership with Riverside Insights®, the leading provider of research-based assessments and analytics, to provide remote administration of the new Woodcock-Johnson® V (WJ V™).

Used in 91% of school districts across the country, the Woodcock-Johnson suite is an important assessment system for measurement of current proficiency and future success across academic achievement, cognitive ability and language skills. The new WJ V moves the assessment to a fully digital format, offering automated scoring, up-to-date post-pandemic norm samples, and new tests to meet the evolving needs of students.

“Riverside’s introduction of the WJ V signals a transformative shift toward technology-powered, enhanced assessment. The digital format is well suited for administration via teletherapy and has enabled us to fully embed all aspects of the assessment into our teletherapy platform, creating a seamless experience for providers and students,” said Presence CEO Kate Eberle Walker. “School districts are turning to evidence-based technology to ensure educators and families can quickly and reliably get the insights needed to best support students, and this partnership is designed to address this need.”

Riverside Insights and Presence have a long-standing partnership rooted in innovation. In 2016, the two companies pioneered the first research-backed, fully online remote administration of a cognitive and academic achievement test, with the Woodcock-Johnson IV (WJ IV™). Presence served as the exclusive partner for validated remote administration of the WJ IV, enabling its network of licensed school psychologists to conduct assessments for students in school districts across the country who were unable to hire service providers locally. This early leadership in remote psychological assessment proved invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling schools to maintain critical access to students and continue essential evaluations throughout extended school closures.

Presence provides teletherapy services to over 10,000 public and private schools, providing psychoeducational assessments conducted by school psychologists, special education-related therapy and evaluations conducted by speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and other related service providers, and mental health counseling service provided by behavioral and mental health professionals. The company serves schools in 47 states, spanning rural, urban, and virtual settings—including Mobile County Public Schools in Alabama, Saginaw Intermediate School District in Michigan, the Learning Network, and IDEA Public Schools. Presence, through its network of more than 2,000 clinicians, has delivered more than 7 million remote evaluations and teletherapy sessions. Providers will be trained and equipped to deliver remote administration of the WJ V to schools served by Presence.

In addition, the WJ V will be made available in Kanga, Presence’s web-based platform licensed by school special education teams to provide their clinicians with technology tools to plan, deliver and document special education-related therapy and assessment services. With the WJ V, the Kanga assessment library now contains over 70 of the leading assessments for use in a school environment, equipping providers with the most current tools at their fingertips to deliver timely, accurate, and impactful evaluations for students across the country.

“With their unmatched experience in remote evaluations, Presence has the scale, technology, and clinician network to bring the WJ V directly to more students across the country,” said Katy Genseke, Head of Clinical Product at Riverside Insights. “This expanded partnership enables broader reach and deeper impact, empowering providers with the flexibility they need while delivering the quality insights educators and families rely on.”
